Welcome to the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS). And, thank you for your military service and sacrifice to our country. Our agency stands ready to help you access the federal and state benefits you earned. If you’ve recently left the military, we are here to help you successfully transition into civilian life.
DVS offers a range of services for veterans and their family members—everything from assistance with filing for claims to certifying educational programs. We operate two long-term care centers and two cemeteries. The Virginia Wounded Warrior Program helps veterans return to their communities through local services and support.
When Governor Bob McDonnell appointed me as Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Services, he charged me with laying the foundation to make Virginia the nation’s most veteran-friendly state. This is one of the greatest challenges of my career, and a challenge that I am honored to take on.
I hope you will visit this site often to watch our progress and give us your feedback. Whether you’re a veteran, retired military, spouse, family member, or friend, we value your comments and suggestions. Our doors are always open to serve you.
